PlagAware News and Announcements
PlagAware is constantly evolving to provide new sources, tools or features. In this section, we inform you about current developments around PlagAware, but also on developments in the field of plagiarism, plagiarism scan and plagiarism management.

AI detector and readability analysis
PlagAware now offers an AI detector that recognizes texts created by generative AI such as ChatGPT, Gemini or LLama based on typical AI language. The AI detector is included in the plagiarism check, so it is offered free of charge as part of the plagiarism check. In addition to AI detection, the text is subjected to a readability analysis using various metrics, which can help to detect stylistic inconsistencies within the text. For more information, see the AI detector tutorial.

Write access for shared links
You can from now on grant write permissions to shared links (so-called "permalinks"). This allows persons to whom you have passed on the link to make changes to the linked plagiarism check. This includes both the rating of the sources and changes to the metadata, such as editing the comment. You can decide for yourself whether you want to grant read and write access to all persons with access to the link, to members of your organization or only to yourself.
You will find the option in your user profile in the "Data protection" section.

Graphical usage statistics
Administrators of a PlagAware license now have the option to graphically display the evolution of PlagAware usage over time. You can also visualize the consumption of sub-licenses so that the largest user groups can be easily identified. We likewise display the predicted consumption of ScanCredits per contract term so that you can assess whether your volume license should be renewed before the end of the initial term.
Of course, we also offer a detailed export of the usage statistics as a text file so that you can easily carry out your own analysis.
For more information, see the License management guide.

Restricting mail addresses to the organization
Administrators of a Plagaware volume- or educational license now have the option to restrict new user logins to the mail address of their respective institution. This ensures that only members of the organization can log in to the managed license. The setting is also available for sublicenses, so that, for example, a student sublicense can be offered exclusively to users with mail addresses of the form "@stud.my-university.edu". For more information, see the License management guide.

Specifying user settings by license administrators
Another improvement for the use of PlagAware at universities and other organizations: To ensure that all plagiarism checks are based on the same settings, license administrators can now specify the configuration of the plagiarism search engine centrally for all users of the license. This also includes the settings for data protection so that, for example, retention periods for checks and library texts can be implemented. For more information, see the License management guide.

Advanced user management and security settings
Administrator of a PlagAware Volume License or Educational License can now decide in much more detail how to add new users to the license. In addition to simply sharing the license key, users can be pre-registered, eliminating the need to distribute the license code. In addition, the license manager can specify that each new addition to the license must first be approved. For more information, see the License management guide.

Improved Side-by-Side View
We have revised and improved the side-by-side comparison of texts: From now on, the side-by-side view will highlight exact matches using a bold font. This will give you an even better idea of how the text was revised. Hence, the your assessment whether the tested text is actually plagiarized or not is greatly simplified.

Plagiarism Search Based on the Text Signature
We are improving data protection at PlagAware: From now on you can specify whether the entire full text should be saved in your library - or only the signature of the text. The signature represents a highly compressed and encrypted form of the text content. You can use this to identify plagiarism of texts without having to save the text to PlagAware.

Preserve Text Format During Plagiarism Scan
To make it easier for you to navigate the results report, we have revised our algorithms for normalizing the test text. Thus, section and page breaks will be preserved as far as possible. In the view settings you can decide whether the text (as before) should be displayed as a continuous section or in the original format.

Text comparison and plagiarism search in own texts
The reliable comparison of two or more texts is a fundamental task in the plagiarism assessment of documents. But there are areas of application that require a text comparison also outside of such an investigation. With PlagAware you can therefore compare several texts with each other without plagiarism analysis.
